"Good Hustle, Garza!"

"Good Rebound, Garza!"

"Way to Battle, Garza!"

Those are usually what you will hear when you go watch a game in which 6-foot-8 2020 Forward Anthony Garza is playing.  Rather that be for Shadow Ridge High School game or a game with his AAU team, Powerhouse 16U Elite.

Garza is the epitome of a hustler.  Go up for a lay-up, you can rest assure you will see Garza contesting it.  Ball comes off the rim, Garza is making an effort to go get it.  Ball squirts out on the ground, he is hitting the deck for it.  Add in the fact that he is a high-character, willing and coachable kid, and you have a recipe for success playing the game of basketball.

Let's say Garza is on the bench getting a blow from all the scrambling he was doing while on the floor, he is the one cheering on his team or clapping and screaming out "Yeah, Tay" when his teammate, Tay Boothman, hits a deep 3.

He is tough and plays the game with passion and heart.  From a skillset perspective, he has great hands and good feet and rolls to the hoop very fundamentally.  He is athletic and is liable to flush down a dunk down the lane when given the opportunity. He defends at a high level and is very in-tune and engaged on both ends of the floor.

Anthony Garza is intense.  But you would not guess it if you exchange words with him prior to seeing him play.  He is not a mute, but more on the quiet side than the loud one.  He is respectful and well-spoken.  But he also has a goofy side to him when around his teammates and peers.  He plays the game like he doesn't just love it, but appreciates it.

Last weekend, he traveled to Los Angeles with his Powerhouse Hoops squad to play in the Hoop Review Spring Tip-Off.  His team turned in some good performances in their 4 games, going 2-2.  Garza had a great showing in each of the 4 games, as I heard multiple "basketball people" say something to the tune of "I love that Garza kid!"  All he did was what he does, rebound and defend at a high rate, finished through tough contact down low, hit the occasional jumper and scrambled all over the court.

Garza will be back in the Los Angeles area again next weekend as him and his team take part in the 2018 West Coast Elite SoCal Hoop Review.  Relentless-Recruiting will be in attendance to cover Garza's play over the weekend.
